The Boston Celtics have officially named Joe Mazzulla their permanent head coach, removing the interim tag from his job title. He has also received a contract extension, although terms of the deal have not been released.

Before the 2022-23 season, the 34-year-old was elevated from assistant coach to interim head coach in the wake of Ime Udoka's season-long suspension for having an inappropriate relationship with a female staff member.
Despite this being his first head coaching opportunity, the Celtics have continued their strong play after advancing to the NBA Finals last summer.
More than halfway through the season, the Celtics are 42-17, which is the best record in the NBA.
